Sandra is in Shimmy Magazine!!
Sandra and Lydia are featured in a bellydance magazine called Shimmy.
The article focuses on dancing with horses in the Equestrian Theater.
The article was written by Carolyn Rose with photos by Bill Lee and
Annabelle Kelman.
Excerpt: "Jingle, jingle, jingle. The sound of a coin belt is all too
familiar to a bellydancer. But what of pounding hoof beats? Is there
such a thing as veil dancing horses? Can horse's jingle too?"
"Dance skills have been used in the (Isaac Royal) Equestrian Theater since the very beginning to perform in horse and dancer combinations. In the beginning it was interpretive dance and then jazz to Chicago, a bit of ballet to Cinderella and sword fighting to Pirates of the Caribbean. Now bellydancing has become the main stay of the theater. Sandra was the first to perform bellydacing in the theater. Sandra bellydances with an elegance and grace that brings the purity of this ancient dance to the fore. Lydia, being such a natural dancer performing her entire life, introduced a tribal style bellydance routine in the Equestrian Theater. By the next year the girls performed a bellydance and dancing horse combination, weaving the dancer and horse movements together. That year Sandra rode Vanidor while Lydia bellydanced with the veil and they quickly became the highlight of the show as they perform in unison."
