Equine Spirit Newsletter

I am very excited to share with all my friends, family, sponsors, and supporters the start of my monthly newsletter. As my career advances I would like to share my news and stories with all of you.
To recap my 2007 season, I earned my Silver Medal from the United States Dressage Federation (USDF). To earn this medal a rider must earn two 60% scores at Fourth level and two 60% scores at Prix St. George (an international dressage level). These scores must be earned at USDF Recognized Shows by an "S" level Dressage Judge. I rode Vanidor for the Fourth level scores and Max for the Prix St. George scores. Currently I also have my Bronze Medal which includes the First through Third level dressage levels.
I also gained valuable scores towards becoming an "r" level judge through the United States Equestrian Federation. To enter the next level I need 5 scores of 65% or higher at Fourth level or above. With Max I was able to get 3 of those scores. I also need 15 recommendations from licensed FEI Officials.
I have been giving clinics and teaching in Tallahassee, Florida at Southern Oaks Equestrian Center. I did a Ride-A-Test Clinic where each participant rides a dressage test as they would in a dressage show. I judge their ride and then discuss their scores and give them a mini-lesson on how to improve. I also did a Seat & Skills Clinic where I work on basic balance and timing of the rider to help the horse. On the last day of my trip I judged a University Dressage Competition. The owner of the farm, Marsha Hartford, is the coach for Florida State University. They hosted a show and had two other University teams participate.
Sadly, I have lost my two beloved mounts Max and Royal Vanidor. It is too painful to put in this newsletter so please click here to read about my two missed horses. To say the least it has been a very hard year so far and I am trying desperately to stay positive.
