July 5 & 6 was the first USDF Recognized Show at Isaac Royal Farm. I had a great time riding Rory at Fourth level. Just last year we were competing First level in his first show. It took some time to get him used to being a gelding after a 4 year career as a breeding stallion. He is also schooling tempi changes and canter pirouettes from the Prix St. George test.

I was scheduled to compete at our second USDF Show but I had an unfortunate mishap. Out of the blue I got thrown off Rory and I wasn't able to ride until a few days ago. It was very unexpected to have him act like that because Rory is known for his lazy personality. Luckily, my sponsor Marge Kasten (physical therapist) has been working on me consistently and I was able to walk better in a few days. Two weeks later I am finally back in the saddle and not feeling too uncomfortable.

I attended another wedding this month. This time it was for my close friend Lydia Rose. Her mother is my coach, Carole Rose. Lydia trained Vienna to Grand Prix level under the instruction of her mother. You can see many photos of her riding on the Isaac Royal Farm website. Her wedding was gorgeous, held in the show field overlooking the mountains. Both the bride and the horse looked beautiful together, just like a fairy tale. She married Joseph Spencer, he was also a frequent rider and did an amazing job in the Equestrian Theater.

Because of my injuries I also had to cancel a bellydance performance in Bangor, Maine. Our group was going to dance with the African Drummers from the Buie School of Music in Dover-Foxcroft. We are looking forward to more opportunities to perform with them in the future.
