April 23rd ~ Equine Art Show at the Center Theatre
Sandra and Lydia Rose had a beautiful art showing that will continue to be on display for the month of May. The Center Theatre is located in downtown Dover-Foxcroft. Congratulations to Lydia Rose for selling two paintings thus far, and Sandra has sold one as well. Two guest artists, students of Isaac Royal Farm, Morgan Smith and Nellie Myers each sold a painting. Morgan Smith contributed two paintings to the "bellydance" wall with Lydia's beautiful pieces.

the Northeast Horsemen's Conference & Trade Show
The latest horse design by Sandra, "Heartbeat.Hoofbeat" was sold for the
first time at this event. The booth looked beautiful made entirely of wooden display items that were a mixture of antique barrels and freshly varnished natural edge planks. All of the products sold very well and a lot of people entered the drawing for a $50 gift certificate. The lucky winner was Elisa Driscoll of Appleton, Maine and she quickly purchased the "Spirit Horse" hoodie, a customer favorite.

Sandra has been drawing horses ever since she was 7 years old. "My initial sketches were quite rough but I practiced constantly. I drew many dressage horses and riders doing the upper level movements of piaffe and extended trot. At that point I had never experienced what the riders in my drawings were doing. Now that I have ridden Grand Prix I am able to realize the dreams I had drawn onto paper. Over the years I have developed a feel for the natural, free flowing beauty of the horse form. I enjoy letting the colors and the horses come spontaneously and creatively. I have used different media such as pastel, watercolor, India ink and pencil. My favorite medium is definitely acrylic paints, using wood as my canvas. I also etch into the wood to create more dimension or paint with no brushes just using my hands (as shown in the two paintings "Primary Colors" and "Max" to the left)."-Sandra
